Intrigued by ‘Fragile’ and Not at All Disappointed!
Last night I attended the latest stimulating and fun event at the New Smyrna Beach library. I had been looking forward to hearing New York Times bestselling author Lisa Unger ever since I listened to her audio book, Fragile, on a recent trip to Atlanta. I always pick up at least one audio book to listen to during the long and tedious drive to and from Atlanta. I saw Lisa’s book Fragile and a number of her audio books nicely displayed on the table as you enter the library. The cover intrigued me as did the story outline. I was not disappointed. One of the main characters is a psychotherapist and since I am a retired therapist myself I was interested in how the author would portray her. I thought she was very accurate (the author was pleased when I mentioned that fact in conversation before the event.) The way the characters intersected and how life events dramatically changed all of them made for a fascinating and poignant read.
It was great getting to hear the author talk about her latest book Heartbroken, her characters, etc. The question and answer period was also stimulating. Ms. Unger was so charming and engaging and despite recovering from a cold, captivated her audience. I am looking forward to reading her other 11 books!
We are fortunate to have our library presentations. Let’s hope more people will take advantage of these opportunities!
