Who We Are & What We Do...

Throughout Florida, public libraries face budget shortfalls as serious as any other government service. In fact, locally, Volusia County library usage and service demands continue to increase exponentially, while the library's budget and  workforce decreases.  All in an effort to "stay out of the red."  What's next? 

Let’s take a look at how membership in the Friends of the Library helps the library. We pay for what our local library needs but what the county cannot purchase. We raise funds by selling the library’s used books, provide volunteer library workers, underwrite cultural programs, and even pay for capital improvements. Through membership dues and fundraising we help bridge that gap between demand and service.
